Description
Gaviscon Advance Peppermint Liquid for Heartburn is a reflux suppressant formulation that brings fast, soothing, and long-lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn (gastric reflux) and indigestion. Heartburn is a burning feeling in the chest caused by stomach acid travelling up towards the throat. Acid reflux is the name given to the burning sensation you get in your throat and chest. It’s caused by stomach acid refluxing upwards. Most people have indigestion at some point. The pain can strike out of the blue but usually occurs a short time after eating. Gaviscon quickly soothes the burning sensation and helps keep digestive acid in the stomach where it should be. Gaviscon Advance Peppermint Liquid is made with the active substance sodium alginate. The other ingredients are potassium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, peppermint flavor, and water. Sodium alginate is extracted from the cell walls of seaweed. It helps the stomach and blocks rising acid, the root cause of the discomfort heartburn and indigestion sufferers know so well. Gaviscon Advance Peppermint Liquid creates a protective barrier that floats on top of the stomach contents to stop acid from refluxing up the esophagus (food pipe). It has a mucoadhesion property; this means it coats the esophagus, providing long-lasting protection. This formulation has been specially constructed to ensure it doesn’t enter the bloodstream. With the lowest sodium content in the Gaviscon range, it's suitable for pregnant women and recurrent sufferers alike.
