Movicol powder for oral solution is a laxative indicated for the treatment of constipation. It works by increasing the bowel movements and aids in comfortable intestinal moments. Each sachet contains 13.8g blend of Macrogol 3350, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Potassium Chloride. Constipation is a condition in which a person has uncomfortable or infrequent bowel movements. Generally, bowel movements result in the passage of small amounts of hard, dry stool, usually fewer than three times a week, which is due to the absorption of too much water from the colon. As the food moves from stomach to intestine, the intestine absorbs the water. Muscle contractions then push the stool toward the rectum, and by the time the stool reaches the rectum, most of the water has been absorbed, making the stool solid, which results in difficult and painful bowel movements or feeling bloated or uncomfortable. Macrogol is an osmotically acting laxative; that is, an inert substance that passes through the gut without being absorbed into the body. It relieves constipation because it causes water to be retained in the bowel instead of being absorbed into the body. This increases the water content and volume of the stools in the bowel, making them softer and easier to pass, as well as improving gut motility.

• For use in adults, adolescents above 15+ years and elderly people: Dissolve the content of each sachet in 125 ml of water, Stir well until all the powder has dissolved and the Movicol solution is clear or slightly hazy, and drink. Take this 1-3 times a day according to the severity of constipation.
• For Fecal impaction (Very bad constipation): Take as prescribed by your physician. A dose of 8 sachets of Movicol in 1 liter of water a day is needed for the treatment of fecal impaction. Each sachet dissolved in 125 ml of water. The 8 sachets should be taken within 6 hours for up to 3 days if required. If you have a heart condition, do not take more than 2 sachets in any one hour.
