Cerazette is a progestin-only contraceptive pill, commonly known as the "mini-pill." Unlike standard contraceptive pills that contain both estrogen and progesterone, Cerazette exclusively contains desogestrel, a synthetic form of progesterone. This formulation makes it a suitable option for women who cannot take estrogen due to medical conditions or intolerance. The primary mechanism by which Cerazette prevents pregnancy is by inhibiting ovulation, thus preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries. Additionally, it thickens cervical mucus, which creates a barrier that hinders sperm movement towards the egg. Cerazette also alters the uterine lining (endometrium) to make it less likely for a fertilized egg to implant. This contraceptive is particularly advantageous for breastfeeding mothers, as it does not affect milk production and is considered safe for women over 35, those who smoke, and those with conditions like high blood pressure or a history of blood clots. Cerazette is regarded as a reliable and safe method of birth control when used correctly.

• Direction for use: It is very important that you use this medication exactly as directed by your Pharmacist or Doctor only.
• Take one Cerazette Tablet with meals to avoid stomach upset. Do not chew or crush the medicine; swallow it as a whole with water daily for 28 consecutive days.
• WARNINGS & CAUTIONS: Not advised if you have had a hormone-dependent cancer such as breast cancer. Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. You may suffer from nausea, vomiting, altered mood, depressed mood, decreased sexual drive (libido), headache, acne, breast pain, irregular or no menstruation, & increased body weight. Speak to your Doctor if the symptoms worsen.
• Do not take Cerazette in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. The medicine may be prescribed for symptoms not listed here. Discuss all the medications you take with your Doctor.
